This blog exists for a couple of reasons:

1. Document and explore my attitudes towards information security and retail and the impact that PCI is having on the retail and hospitality industries
2. Provide some resources and insight (if you can call it that) into what’s going on with PCI and info. security

As I mention in the ‘Welcome’ post, I have no idea if anyone other than me is going to read this or find it useful, but that’s OK - it’s already helping me to better understand my own philosophy regarding how information security operates (and should operate) within retail/hospitality. It is helping (forcing?) me to read and analyze others opinions and to see the industry pressures through a slightly different lens…

Please, if something interests you, or if you have feedback for this blog (good, bad, or otherwise) register and comment. I am making registration a requirement, because I have had other blogs and, without registration, the spam is just too much to deal with. I’m not giving names or email addresses out (or selling them for that matter) and, although I do work for a consulting firm that focuses on information security, I am not shuffling your information over to our marketing people.

When you register, your info is only going to be used to keep your account info up and, eventually, I might set up a ‘newsletter’ sort of thing, but that would be opt-in only, so no worries there….

Thanks and I’m looking forward to airing out some of my thoughts and observations and, again, if anyone finds this even remotely interesting or useful, please comment. Also, I do have a decade + of retail experience both on the financial and technology side of the house and have done a lot of work over the years for companies ranging from American Eagle to Pep Boys to Best Buy to rue21, so, if I can generally be of service, answer any questions, or provide some direction, please let me know.
